Life on our planet is defined by time. We live within a cyclical framework of changing light, weather, and energy. Our bodies change on the micro and macro levels, growing from infant to child to adult before shrinking beneath the weight of gravity, all while experiencing the smaller daily changes of our sleep cycles, digestive cycles, menstrual cycles.
Life exists on this cyclical continuum, and this is visually defined through light. Light regulates plant and animal life, turns day to night, and creates and alters color. We take our cues from the continuous changes of the earth’s rotation and the solar cycle. In our daily lives, light becomes another character living among us, changing our moods, choices, and energy. The rhythm collection uses changing light to carry the viewer through the complete cycle of a day, through dawn to the brightness of midday, through afternoons lengthening shadows and the setting of the sun.
